Roundup From Graphing Social Patterns East ‘08

Anu Shukla at GSP EastWhen O’Reilly’s Graphing Social Patterns conference wrapped up last month in Washington, D.C., most attendees agreed that the show provided a treasure trove of information to help them build their social media businesses. Just recently, the good folks at O’Reilly Media made those presentations available to those who weren’t fortunate enough to be able to attend.

Of course, Offerpal Media’s own Anu Shukla was featured as a speaker at the show, taking part in the panel, “Show Me the Monetization: Turning Apps Into Dollars.” The transcripts of the panel, which was moderated by CNET’s Caroline McCarthy, can be found at Justin Smith’s blog, InsideFacebook.

For those of you looking for the 30,000 foot view of where social networks are heading, Forrester analyst Charlene Li — she of Groundswell fame — shares her insights here.

But not all presentations focused on prognostication. Many were extremely practical, such as the presentation from Cappy Popp of Thought Labs on “Migrating From Facebook to Bebo” and one from Google’s Developer Advocate Patrick Chanezon called “Introduction to OpenSocial Apps & Containers.” LinkedIn’s Reid Hoffman also gave an interesting talk on “The Business of Facebook Applications: Social Graphs, Applications and the Future of the Web.”

If you’d like to browse through all the presentations, you can find them here. Happy reading!
