When MySpace opened up their platform last February, critics argued that they had a long way to go before catching up to Facebook in terms of developer activity. However, as Silicon Alley Insider and The Social Times have chronicled, MySpace has come a long way in just seven months, and if they haven’t caught up just yet then they’re certainly nipping at Facebook’s heels.
Of course, having 100 million users is a strong lever, so no one should be surprised to see the kind of developer activity the MySpace platform has experienced recently. But the numbers are impressive nonetheless. Several apps have recently exceeded the 1 million install mark, and some — like Own Your Friends! and Mobsters — are now closing in on 10 million installs.
In terms of monetization, it’s clear that the activity on MySpace is on a sharp upswing as well. We’re seeing most of our MySpace developer partners earning on average $75 per day for every 1,000 daily active users, with high-engagement apps raking in more than $200 per day per 1,000 DAUs. These numbers are pretty equivalent to what we’ve been paying out to Facebook developers.
At Offerpal, we’re 100% committed to the MySpace ecosystem. In fact, to demonstrate our commitment and further establish our “Managed Offer” platform as the leading monetization solution for app developers, today we launched a MySpace native onboarding app so developers can onboard themselves directly and start making money in a matter of minutes.
We already work with top MySpace apps like Own Your Friends!, Mobsters, Super Pets, Heroes, Speed Racing and many others. As the platform grows and more developers become aware of its significant potential, we expect to add hundreds more.
If you have a MySpace app and would like to monetize it, or for information on porting your Facebook app over to MySpace, drop us a line. We’d love to help.

I’d love to know what constitutes a DAU? I’m assuming it is a daily active user of the app — in which case the $75/1000DAU seems very attractive. Hope you can shed some light on this.
Cheers,
